REAL WEDDING: HILARY AND ADAM AT BLUE WREN
Tell us about your wedding vibe!?
We envisioned a day that felt elegant, timeless, and deeply personal—set against the relaxed beauty of the Mudgee hills and vineyards.
The black-tie dress code was important to us; it brought a sense of occasion and contrast to the natural surroundings.
Everything from the floral palette to the music was chosen to create an atmosphere that felt both refined and intimate—celebratory but not showy, thoughtful but not over-styled.
Why did you choose Blue Wren Farm for your venue?
Blue Wren struck the perfect balance between understated country charm and refined elegance.
We loved that the venue allowed for a seamless flow between ceremony, cocktails, and reception, without needing to compromise on style or setting.
It felt private, relaxed, and most of all, it gave us the opportunity to host our guests in a way that felt warm, generous, and deeply considered.
What was your favourite moment of the day?
There were so many, but walking back down the aisle together, just married, with our family and friends cheering in the sunshine—that moment was full of joy and It felt both surreal and deeply grounding.
How did your guests react to the photo booth?
It was an instant hit!! Even the more reserved guests found themselves in front of the lens by the end of the night—laughing, swapping props, and squeezing into group shots. It gave everyone a playful way to let loose without interrupting the flow of the evening.
Why did you decide to include a photo booth?
We loved the idea of giving our guests something to do between the formalities of the night and something fun, but also a keepsake.
Whilst we love our professional photos, the Party Booth added a light-hearted way to capture a different, more candid side of the night - and it totally worked!
What was your favourite photo strip or moment captured?
Who else helped bring your vision to life?
We were incredibly fortunate to work with a talented group of people. Our florist, Mudgee Monkey brought warmth and softness to the space with natural, sculptural arrangements. Our photographer Feather & Birch captured the day with a beautiful elegance, whilst maintaining the relaxed, intimate nature of the day. Our celebrant, Myff Clarke helped shape a ceremony that felt intimate, sincere, and completely us. And lastly, all our food and beverages were through the Blue Wren Farm. A key focus of our wedding day was to ensure that everyone was well fed and the drinks were flowing and the staff certainly delivered! We had so many compliments after our wedding on how much everyone enjoyed the food, it made us so happy to hear!
What advice would you give to other couples planning a wedding in Mudgee?
Lean into the landscape—it’s a beautiful part of the world and doesn’t need much decoration. Consider a weekend-style celebration so guests have time to explore the region. And trust local vendors; they know the rhythm of the place and bring a sense of calm and capability that’s invaluable.
If you could relive one part of the day, what would it be?
The dance floor! The DJ and saxophonist were a hit.
Anything else you'd love to share about your story or experience?
We tried to approach every decision with clarity and purpose—less about trends, more about what felt right for us. That mindset shaped everything from the tone of the ceremony to the table settings, and in the end, the day felt completely our own.
